Tonight's dinner was a bit of a Christmas get together with some close friends. The meeting spot was Mimi's Cafe. We ordered a Mimi's Trio to start while we waited for our friends. The order comes with three items and a cup of spinach and artichoke dip. The chicken strips and fried zucchini were a bit bland but with the dipping sauce they were great. The third item on the plate was sliced bread which I did not get to taste. I'm sure it was good.
For my entrée I ordered a Jambalaya, I was shocked when I got it since the portion was big enough to feed about two to three people. I tried to eat as much as I could but was only able to eat about a third of it. This one has chicken, shrimp and spicy sausage. I got one from Joe's Crab Shack a while ago and theirs had mussels and something else. As far as the taste goes, it had a nice spicy taste, not salty at all but one thing that I was not impressed with was that it had this dirt taste to it, same with the one from Joe's Crab Shack. Must be some spice in it that gives it that flavor.
Service towards me was OK, I didn't have much, the Jambalaya and a coke. As for my wife, the waitress kept forgetting to bring her food.
Overall, food was good, service was a little blah, price was good for the portions. Might have to try it again to get a better feel and taste something else.
***the dish from Joe's Crab Shack was a Paella not a Jambalaya***
